Witchstone

Witchstone

Witchstone πŸ§™β€β™€οΈ is a fairly easy-to-learn tile laying game with countless symbol combination possibilities where you try to restore the energy field of the legendary Witchstone (a sacred stone) and achieve greatness in the meantime.πŸ™ƒ

You use magic spells using your cauldron by placing double-hex tiles in it and executing the actions corresponding to the symbols on it.
The more matching symbols are around in a continuous cluster, the stronger the action is.
After 11 rounds the player with the most victory points wins.

There are many ways you can collect VPs:
- you build energy paths connecting locations on the main board
- place witches there to get bonuses
- collect scrolls with reinforcing spells and prophecies (those are basically goals to achieve for extra victory points at game end)
- move around on a thematically fitting pentagram (why not?)
- going further right on a magic wand 🧐
- moving crystals out of the cauldron and activating bonus actions with them

Witchstone has the feeling of a roll-and-write in a good way, but with the added tactility of the components you can fiddle around with. The six actions you can do aren't that complex or meaningful on their own, but they can combo off of each other and by the end you can achieve a lot. (Reminds me of 'That's pretty clever'.)
Every turn you have a lot to think about and there are always multiple ways you can go.
