What's hot right now?
There were a lot of board game news lately, so the BGG Hotness list is going haywire! Let’s take a look at some anticipated titles! 😁
Currently on the top is 🚀 Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game. Well anything Star Wars is exciting to me, so this is hype too. You play as either the Empire or the Rebellion, trying to destroy 3 bases of your opponent. You both start out with a deck of 10 cards, and acquire new cards as the game goes on (similar to e.g. Star Realms). Color us intrigued! 🥰
You can see 🌏 Earth up there too, which is one of our anticipated Kickstarters that will be delivered soon. A really cool tableau/engine-building game, which we already tried at SPIEL - so we know it’s going to be great! 🥰
🌀 An Age Contrived is also hot - though you already know we love this game, so I’ll say no more. 😅 See our coverage here:
There are two remakes in the works as well, though we haven’t played the original games yet. ⛏️ Archeos Society is the remake of Ethnos, and 🧧 Huang is the remake of Yellow & Yangtze.
I like how older and perhaps less attractive games can get a new chance at success with such re-releases.
Awaken Realms had a recent live stream with some juicy announcements.
First and foremost 🛰️ Nemesis: Retaliation, which will be a third Nemesis game. This time you play as highly trained marines entering an alien nest - so you are better prepared, though it should still retain the beloved horror-atmosphere.
🐉 Dragon Eclipse is a fantasy adventure game where you can fight, tame, catch and train mystical creatures - sort of like some Pokemon board game. 😄
☢️ S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is an implementation of a video game. Basically a dungeon crawler where you are trying to survive in the dangerous and harsh radioactive “Zone” in diverse missions.
And of course 📚 Scholars of the South Tigris is live on Kickstarter, which looks absolutely amazing - and especially considering how good Wayfarers of the South Tigris is, this is probably an auto-back for many. 😁
