What's hot right now?
What game are you most excited about right now? Let’s take a look at some of the hottest titles on BGG again! There are always some new things on the horizon - what a time to be a board gamer!
On the top you can see ⛵ Sail, a game which might immediately win you over with its cover art alone. 🤩 The art style is just phenomenal. However upon closer inspection the gameplay is quite intriguing as well! A 2-player co-op trick-taking game in which you and your partner are controlling a ship - win and lose tricks according to how you want to steer the ship and fight the Kraken. It seems pretty cheap on KS too. 😋
Sail is actually part of a 4-game bundle, though the other games are not on the hotness list. I think Chomp is worth mentioning, which looks like a cool card layering game where you expand and cover up your tableau of dinos to meet the demands of your growing number of objectives.
🗡️ Dead Cells was announced too. Reading this news was exciting to me, as I have played Dead Cells a lot on PC, which is being implemented now as a board game. 😊 It is a roguelike game, which usually means that you have to start all over when you die, losing all progress. It is never boring though because on the next try you get a new randomly generated map, and find new weapons and items, so no two “runs” are the same. Even though your character doesn’t necessarily get better, you as a player do, which means you will be able to get further and further. 💪
Then there is the newest title from Matt Leacock, 🌳 Forbidden Jungle! This is especially close to our hearts, as Forbidden Island and Forbidden Desert were our very first games that started us on our board gaming journey, so we are looking forward to this. 😁
I can’t say much about ⛰️ Stonesaga, but what it promises makes it worthy of its place on the Hotness list. A co-operative campaign board game set in a unique world, where each play session describes the story of generations as you try to survive by meeting the needs of your society, fighting off beasts and crafting new things with an innovative system. Color me intrigued!
