Some of the current Hotness
Do you follow the hotness list on BGG? It compiles a list of 50 ‘trending’ games - usually the newest and the hottest, like those freshly launched on Kickstarter that manage to reach a certain hype level, or older titles where some buzz is going on.
We enjoy browsing the list and have found a couple of interesting titles on it this week:
🧭 Expeditions
Ok, this was quite a big announcement on Wednesday, so I am not surprised it’s already on the list. We are way late to the party with Scythe, as we just recently started to venture into the alternate history of 1920’s Europa, but we quickly become fans. Partly because of the exciting theme and artwork, which will be carried on in the sequel Expeditions, where players are exploring a massive meteorite crash site in Siberia. 😮
🛸 Andromedas Edge
This is a pretty big game from the designer of Dwellings of Eldervale over on crowdfunding now, and I’m pretty sure we won’t be able to resist. There is a lot to like here. 🤩 Worker placement on a hex based map with spaceships of different abilities, and calling back your workers also allows you to activate modules of your player board. You can assemble cool looking buildings, and move on a bunch of tracks. Plus the dice based combat looks promising with mitigated randomness. Did I mention we love sci-fi games? 😁
🚙 Horseless Carriage
We kind of missed the announcement of this, but it seems to be really hot right now, from the makers of Food Chain Magnate. The main feature is tile-laying, as you have to cleverly piece together your factory and fit different car parts to your stations manufacturing them - then use your marketing departments to find buyers. The price is really high though, especially considering the components. 🤔
🐾 The Search for Lost Species is the spiritual sequel to Search for Planet X, which we really love, so we’ll definitely be getting it some time in the future, but probably not through the KS, as it will be definitely cheaper in retail. But it seems like a fun twist with a hexagonal island where you search for animals.🤩
