What are we getting into?

Our copy of Planet Unknown 🌎 finally arrived. 🤩

We have been looking forward to this game for some time now. We are fans of tile-laying games in general and this one seemed to have some fun ideas up its sleeves. 🧐

And after playing I have to say Planet Unknown is amazing. The added mechanics introduce additional layers of decision, but without bogging the gameplay down. The turns remain snappy, and the playtime short. 👌

You are basically trying to fill your planet board as perfectly as possible - no surprise there. However it also matters what types of tiles you choose to place. There are 6 different terrain types that are associated with the 5 resource tracks on your player board (1 terrain is only for copying the other 5 types).

You go up those tracks when you place terrain of that type, unlocking different bonuses. For example you get to move your Rovers around on the planet collecting life pods and meteorites. 🚐

And of course you have to watch out for different scoring conditions that are randomly selected at setup.

We can't wait to check out the asymmetric corporations and planet boards. 😻
