Weekend recap

Weekend recap

What have you played this weekend?

We had a great weekend of gaming finally - not overly hot, and not many chores to accomplish! The perfect recipe to play games. ๐Ÿ˜

We definitely wanted to continue our playthrough of โ„๏ธ Frosthaven, so we basically dedicated Saturday to just playing it. ๐Ÿ˜… After getting through the first hurdles of relearning the rules, it quickly became addictive again: unlocking stickers for the map, gathering loot and learning new skills, and skillfully maneuvering around in the dungeon as you fight monster after monster. I canโ€™t wait for our next scenario! ๐Ÿฅฐ

First on the Sunday menu was ๐Ÿง  Neodreams, a tableau-building worker placement game about running a company in an extraordinary science-fictiony industry: crafting and selling dreams to customers! The game has a new twist on worker placement and there are 3 types of cards that each activate differently.

๐Ÿ“ฏ Open Season is a really amazing card drafting game. With a deceptively simple game structure youโ€™d expect it to be a cakewalk, but placing cards on your board has a lot of nuances and rules, and trying to perfectly satisfy every requirement is almost impossible. ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐Ÿ Dance of Ibexes is basically โ€˜6 Nimmtโ€™ or โ€˜Take 5โ€™, but with some twists and awesome chunky wooden tiles instead of cards. We had surprisingly fun time trying it out despite it being for up to 8 players, but it will shine with 4+ players!

๐ŸŒณ Forest Shuffle is THE card-drafting tableau-builder game. It is just incredibly fun, especially now with the Alpine expansion added too. Canโ€™t wait to grab the new expansion Woodland Edge. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

๐Ÿ’ƒ Tango is a 2p trick-taking game. There are more and more of these and Iโ€™m here for it! Its main twist is that players have both cards in hand and in front of them, and each trick will thus consist of 4 cards - the visible cards on the table add a lot to the strategy!

Finally, ๐Ÿˆโ€ Pocket Cats is a really cool quick-and-simple tile flipping game for 2. You just flip up tiles of a 5x5 grid, moving them according to their rules. When all tiles are flipped, you check whose cats managed to get more prey.
