UKGE - Saturday recap
Saturday, Day 2 of UKGE 2024 is behind us. We really wanted to try out the upcoming Duel for Middle-Earth game at Asmodee, so we rushed to sign up, but when we got there 2 minutes after opening, all of the demo slots for the day were gone. 😢 Too slow I guess. Luckily there are other fish in the sea.
An intriguing game we tried is ⏱️ Kronologic: Paris 1920. It's a game by the creators of Turing Machine, and it's basically a mix of that and Awkward Guests: so it's a really fun logical deduction murder mystery! Unfortunately the copies for sale didn't arrive. 😭
We checked out a bunch of upcoming games at Ares. We were most interested in Altay: Dawn of Civilization, and Fire & Sword (the upcoming expansion for the War of the Ring: The Card Game), but there is even more stuff on the horizon. Most notably Builders of Sylvan Vale and Aeternum. First time hearing about that one! 😮
Then we went to explore the aisles of the convention halls, as there was still so much we hadn't seen. The crowds were quite crazy, and free tables were scarce, so after a while we decided to return to the hotel Open Gaming Area for a huge gaming session - playing both our haul and games from the library. 😉
⚔️ Converge - a tug-of-war wallet game with multi-use cards. Pretty clever!
💀 Skulls of Sedlec - a simple but fun card drafting game where so assemble a crypt with skulls.
💌 Bridgerton Love Letter - we collect every version of Love Letter, so this joined the collection. Love Letter is just the most consistent source of fun! 😍
🚢 Rafter Five - a dexterity game from Oink. You precariously balance planks and chests on the game box. Really funny!
🎆 Skyrockets - a hectic real-time game with hourglasses.
🕵♂️ Suspects - a card-based detective game.
⚗️ Potion Explosion - a contract fulfilment drafting game with an interesting candy crush gimmick that we wanted to try for a while.
🦖 Gods Love Dinosaurs - a unique take on tile laying. You make habitats for Prey so Predators can thrive, so Dinosaurs have Predators to eat.
🛡 Odin - and this little game from yesterday that keeps getting better. £10 for unlimited fun!
