The party game above all party games

The party game above all party games

Last weekend we had very special visitors - our old friends from Hungary who I totally blame for turning us into board gamers by gifting us a game that hooked us. Little did they know what avalanche they were about to unleash!😂

While we did explore the neighborhood a bit, we also managed to play quite a few games! One of them was Ito, a party game (yes you heard it right) which we first discovered at the Castle Event of @der_heidelbaer and CGE and have been eager to play it again since then! So if you know us, you might know that we do not often play party games - they just do not tend to work at 2p 😜, but also it's not our favorite genre.

So then why the excitement for Ito you ask? Well, it’s still not a game I would play at 2p, though the box says 2-8 players, but it is really fun with 4+ (had the chance to test it at multiple player counts actually). In a round you just deal every player a card and select a topic randomly (or you could totally come up with something tailored to the group). Let’s say the current topic is about “useful things in a zombie apocalypse” 🤭The cards have numbers from 1-100 on them and players are not allowed to discuss them directly. They cooperatively have to bring their numbers into the right order, by assigning a thing to their number and just discussing and debating based on how high they *think* their card is compared to the others.

💭The game is an ideal ice breaker - it's really funny even (or especially) when you don’t know all players very well without getting you in cringe situations. Estimating how others rate something can be hard, especially when players get similar numbers. How useful is a broken machete? And food, enough for 1 day? I’d say they are better than nothing and would choose them if I had a card with a value around 30-35. Kristóf says no more than 20. But that machete in the hands of a self appointed Chuck Norris could also be worth a lot more!🤣
