Technocratic Victorian Steampunk Dystopia

Technocratic Victorian Steampunk Dystopia

3 words: Technocratic Victorian Steampunk 🤩 Those are enough not just to wake our curiosity but to get us ultra hyped! This theme is not as common in board games as it should be, even though Steampunk is always brilliant. So you can imagine our excitement when we received City of the Great Machine from Crowd Games 🤩.

City of the Great Machine immerses players in a gritty dystopian universe. The game centers around the conflict between the Great Machine, an artificial intelligence network, and a band of heroes, the Revolutionists. The Great Machine was created by humans to help realize their potential and optimize the workings of the city. However with time the Machine took over its operators, and now has several loyal servants that became more machine than human with each implant they received. Now a few brave people are trying to stop the Great Machine before it can finish its Master Plan to “perfect humanity”.😱

The game and its actions are dripping with theme.😍 The City is located on mobile platforms suspended in the sky, so the randomized layouts can change during gameplay too, as you dash along its district trying to avoid detainment from vigilant Servants and mechanical guards. As the Revolutionists you work together to incite rebellion within the City, rally support from notable citizens, instigate riots, and stir up discontent. Additionally, you strive to prevent the Great Machine from fulfilling its Master Plan, which would ultimately result in the enslavement of mankind. 🫠

👉It’s a One vs Many game, with the Great Machine pitted against 3 Revolutionists, but you can also play in Solo/Co-op mode where the Great Machine and its dutiful servants are controlled by decks of cards.

We will be back real soon with some gameplay impressions! 🙃
