Spielwarenmesse continued

Let’s continue where we left off yesterday, checking out games at the Spielwarenmesse ! After all, there are more interesting games being cooked up - there are always so many things to look forward to! 😊

☕ Coffee Rush: Piece of Cake

Korea Boardgames is releasing an expansion for this clever resource-gathering contract-fulfillment game. The basic game already has amazing tokens for the ingredients you use for recipes, now you get new delicious looking cake 🍰 pieces - and a new mechanic regarding these, as you might get Piece of Cake cards that offer useful one-time effects!

😸 Power Hungry Pets

When we saw this, we just thought it was another spin on the success of Exploding Kittens. 💥 (Well, I guess it still is) but this is also basically a new variant / reimplementation of Love Letter! Love Letter is a big favorite of ours, and the funny gags of Exploding Kittens will suit the frantic fun well! 😁

The kitty rulez
I have to confess, when I first saw 🐱Power Hungry Pets on a table at the Asmodee booth at Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg I thought: “meh, is this another version of Exploding Kittens?” - but upon closer inspection we’ve found out that it is actually a Love Letter spin-off game!

👻 Quoridor: Pacman - @gigamic_france

The Pacman theme really lends itself to Quoridor! 😉 In this version you can either play by the known Quoridor rules (either moving or placing down a wall to block your opponent - with the goal of reaching the other side of the board faster) or you can play 1 vs 4 - Pacman vs Ghosts. Just like in the video game, as Pacman you try to eat some dots while the Ghosts are trying to eat you.

🌕 Shackleton Base - @sorrywearefrench

This game looked cool at first sight - building a base on the Moon with hexagonal tiles. Upon closer inspection we noticed Fabio Lopiano’s and Nestore Mangone’s name on the box, which fueled our interest even more! Interesting things with a focus on variability through neutral corporations, which all have their own mechanics, scoring opportunities and actions.
