Spiel 2024 recap - Day 2

The best thing about Day 2 of Spiel is that you have mostly bought all the things you wanted on Day 1, so you have much more time to just explore or play stuff. 😄 Of course usually one day is not enough to get everything, especially as I have seen quite a few “sold out” signs all over the fair, as there lots of exciting titles. We did pick up a bunch more things too - luckily we have the luxury of coming by car 🚗, so we don't have to make many hard decisions thanks to the trunk space.
Our Day 2 was quite packed with meetings again, so that together with hunting down some more games meant again that we couldn't sit down much for gaming. We played a game of 🕊️ Fly-A-Way at Playlogue which is a family game of route building about birds and their migration patterns, as you try to connect breeding and wintering grounds.

We played 📓 Backstories by La Boite de jeu which is a story adventure game with only a deck of cards, some of them punched out so you can interact with other cards.
A new game joins the definite recommendation category: ❗ 🎨 Yellow House by Mandoo Games , a trick taking game where the twist is that cards don't have a number, just a color. Their value is instead determined by a track which players can influence. Very cool and with a colorful painter/painting aesthetic.

Another card shedding and climbing we liked is 🔮 Seers Catalog from Bezier Games . It has a quirky theme, collecting items to protect yourself from werewolves. You don't just want to have few cards at the end of the round, but have high values remaining.

Unfortunately there is also a flop category now. 😅 We were really intrigued by Tower of Doubt from Itten Games which comes in a cool tiny thin box and is about deduction and bluffing, as players claim towers that they can only see 2 different sides of. It's mostly just guesswork however and you cannot really strategize.

We should have some more time today, so we hope to come upon a few empty demo tables to try a bunch of games. There are tons we would love to play. 🥰 And maybe we run into more awesome people too. 😉
