Spiel 2024 recap - Day 0

It’s that time of the year again! 🎉 We open our convention coverage with the obligatory mug shot - if you happen to see us, please say hello! 😁

So, we kicked off Spiel'23 with the usual Day 0 program: the press conference. 😁 This is mainly about presenting a few numbers about the show and the gaming industry - this year they expect 200.000 game enthusiasts over the span of 4 days and for the first time ever, the Thursday and Friday are sold out, meaning this show will be crazy (and crazy full)! 😳🤯 Ok, it’s not that surprising, given the public holiday on Thursday in Germany. 😅

With about 923 exhibitors from 52 nations, it will be super international and exciting. There are officially 1562 new releases, not counting countless “older” games that you can buy or demo. 😍 Roughly half of them were presented in the Novelty Show afterwards - look below for some random impressions!

Oh, and let’s not forget to mention the winner of the German Game Award which is awarded based on community votes every year - people have spoken, congrats to Lookout Games for bringing us Forest Shuffle, very well deserved! (Now let’s hope we’ll manage to get a copy of the new expansion before it sells out 😂)
