Spiel Preview 1

We only have to survive one more week, then it is time to head out to Essen for this year’s Spiel! We are totally excited and have been for a while, and what better way to share that excitement than to make some lists. 😅 

So let’s take a look at 4 of the upcoming euros in this post! These aren’t just games that look exciting, but games we were lucky enough to get to try, so we can say with confidence that these are all awesome! ☺️

📡 SETI - CGE Booth 3Z411 6A101

I think this is THE game to watch at Essen this year. With multi-use cards, thematic actions and a cool rotating board, this game manages to feel tight but at the same time let you do things in multiple fun ways. All of this is coupled with an amazing table presence. 🤩 Read more about it here.

🌔 Shackleton Base - Sorry we are French Booth 6F300

As you would expect from the duo of Nestore Magnone and Fabio Lopiano, this game is awesome with various new ideas, loads of player interaction and tons of replayability. The neutral corporations you choose, give each game a unique flavour! 😊 Read more about it here.

⛵ Saltfjord - Aporta Games Booth 3F113

A reimagining of Santa Maria, Saltfjord boasts one of the coolest dice action selection mechanisms we have ever seen. This coupled with an engaging resource management puzzle make this an endlessly replayable fun time! 🙃 Read more about it here.

☢️ Phoenix New Horizon - Perro Loko Games Booth 3X112

We haven’t seen this game mentioned enough yet, but we are positive it’s a real gem of a euro. Behind the beautiful box and superb components you find a really captivating and combo-heavy euro that I am sure will be enjoyed my many. And a post-apocalypse theme to go with is a nice plus. 😁 Read more about it here.
