Spiel 22 Preview III.

In this issue of our Spiel preview series I wanted to showcase some of the more obscure titles you might have missed. š These are all games that I donāt know that much about or am not sure about, so they are not on the āto-buy listā as of now - but I am intrigued to try them out and see what they offer!
āŖ Pilgrim
This game got my attention because it uses a mancala movement mechanic to determine the actions and an 18xx-style tile system to build trade routes and pilgrimage trails. The theme of being an abbot in 14th century England doesnāt really speak to us though. This coupled with a seemingly crazy pricetag means we most probably wonāt buy this.
šŗ The Wolves
In this area-control game you lead a pack of wolves. There is a clever action-selection system where you have to flip tiles that show the terrain type on which you want to do your action. These tiles are double-sided with different terrain on both sides, so your options will change after each action you do. You have to hunt prey, howl lone wolves into your pack and expand out to win the majority in the scoring phases. You get stronger as you place more dens and lairs from your player board.
š® Precognition
In Precognition you play as an Ymune who can see the future. You are guiding a boat of humans down a river with the goal to have the most healthy humans upon arrival. Your ability to see the future is symbolised by a unique card playing system - you play a card for yourself, one for your neighbor and give 2 remaining cards to your other neighbor. This way some cards will make it back to you so you have to keep them in mind. During your journey you will be fighting banes, healing humans and scavenging for food and batteries.
āØ Deities
I honestly donāt know much about this - no rulebook or videos as of yet - but the components simply look amazing. It seems to be quite an abstract game where you collect resources in a unique way and place down buildings in a grid in an effort to have the most points. I definitely want to give this a try!
