Spiel 22 Preview I.

Essen SPIEL 22 is starting in 4 weeks! This means we can barely contain our excitement! 😁 It really is better than Christmas 😂
It’s to time start hyping the newest releases - this first issue showcases 4 of the bigger games coming out - and all of them can be bought. 😉

⛪ Sabika

This is a euro about helping construct the Alhambra - you build towers, palaces and gardens, carve poems in the walls and export trade goods to cities. The aspect that got my attention is the triple-rondel of the game. We love rondels and this game has them! 😅 Your 3 different types of workers walk around the rondel activating different actions.

🪚 Woodcraft 🧰

The newest title from Vladimir Suchy, so of course this is hyped. Different colored dice represent different types and amounts of wood - you use these to fulfill contracts. You can glue and cut wood to make other pip values. The game uses an action selection wheel which is similar to Praga, but improved even further. There are a lot of other mechanics sprinkled in the game, that should make this an awesome release.

🎵 Lacrimosa

Ok we know almost nothing about this one but it seems intriguing nonetheless. The newest title from Devir Games who published Bitoku last year. There is unfortunately no rulebook available yet, only a couple of pictures - but we might just buy this one blindly before it sells out. 😅 The theme is about composing music, so quite unique, and the game is supposedly played in a present and past timeline with card hand management.

🐄 Great Western Trail: Argentina

The new version of GWT from Eggert Spiele . We only have the old version without the expansion so we will probably get this. There are some interesting changes: the train is used to shorten your rondel so you can ship cattle faster. Cattle get shipped to Europe, so you are racing for place on ship cards and take bonuses on the new Europe boards. There is a new worker type, the Farmer which produces wheat that is important for your cattle. Good stuff all around.
