I think it’s time to look at another batch of upcoming games at SPIEL23!
Excitement levels are steadily rising, as there are only a couple of weeks more to go. 😁 Let’s start!

✈️ Sky Team - @scorpionmasque
Okay so even though I want to look at more under the radar games, this might be one of the hotter GenCon releases. Still, I’m excited about this so I want to share the hype. 🙃
It’s a co-operative dice placement game in which you play as the pilot and co-pilot of an airplane - but there’s a twist: you are not allowed to communicate while playing.
There are many clever restrictions for dice placement that should make this a challenging but fun experience. Of course as with all good co-ops, a ton of loss conditions, but only one way to win. 😅

Sail - @allplayhq
Sail was part of a Kickstarter with multiple smaller games. We skipped that due to the shipping and customs costs, but I’d like to get my hands on this if I see it. It’s another co-op game with no communication, this time with trick taking! Depending on who wins a trick, certain actions will be triggered, and you have to navigate through a raging sea evading a furious kraken. 🐙 With asymmetric character powers sprinkled on top and a lovely presentation, this sure is an attractive little package!

🔺 Terra Pyramides - @korea.boardgames
This is a somewhat abstract, seemingly simple-but-great game from designer duo Kiesling/Kramer. Basically you place tiles down on a central board to activate a row of tiles, to get workers, coins and resources, so you can build Pyramids. Looks fun and it has some modules that introduce more complexity.

🛕 Amritsar: The Golden Temple - @ludonovajuegos
To be honest I didn’t even know this game was coming until I saw a designer diary on BGG for it - and now it’s one of my most anticipated games! 😮 It has some inspirations from Merv, Tawantinsuyu and Ginkgopolis, games which I really enjoy, and the Mancala mechanic, which is one of my favorites! 🥰 So there is Mancala action selection on a shared grid, and the game sounds like a ton of fun. I recommend reading the designer diary from the designer David Heras Pino!
