To the Moon and back

To the Moon and back

🌕 Moon is a card drafting game in which you are building lunar bases. If you know Villagers or Streets, this one might look familiar - it’s part of the trilogy. 👍
The game uses closed drafting: every player gets some cards and will play 1 each in turn order, then pass their cards to the next player, and repeat this until every card is gone. You do this for 3 eras, with each era getting a new deck of cards that are more expensive but also stronger. After the third era you add up your reputation points to see whose base becomes the new capital of the Moon! 👑

Your turn is quite simple: either play a card, or discard one for its bonus. Before or after this you can also do some free actions, like using an opponent’s building by placing a Rover 🚜 on it, flipping a flippable building card, using your expedition card or claiming a reputation card. 🧐

Expeditions switch up the drafting formula in a cool way: ☝️ in each era, everyone gets a random expedition card. This might be something good or a mandatory negative thing. When you pass your remaining cards, you also pass the expedition card with them, so everyone will use every expedition multiple times, and this keeps things interesting.

Reputation cards are basically public objectives - you have to race 🏃 to reach their condition and claim them. You don’t just get points for them, but also some other instant or ongoing effect.

Cards you will play are all buildings, and they come in 4 flavors:
🔵 Blue cards produce resources (there are 4 resource types that you’ll keep spending throughout the game).
🟡 Yellow cards provide Flags which are requirements for certain cards, plus there is also majority scoring for these in each era!
🟣 Pink cards can be flipped once each era to use their powerful effect.
⚪ Greys provide reputation points in some way.

The game is easy to understand, but there is always a fair amount to consider. The expeditions do a great job of switching things up, and the reputation cards and flag majority scorings keep the competition alive. We are very pleasantly surprised how enjoyable this little game is! A definite recommendation! 😊
