Prepare for liftoff!
We had the pleasure of playing 🚀Galactic Cruise over the weekend. It's a game that first got on our (and probably everyone’s) radar when its cover art was revealed - made by none other than Ian O'Toole! 😍 Since then we have been really interested in finding out what the game is actually like and now it’s launching on Kickstarter!
It's a mid-heavy weight euro about running a space travel agency. 🌌 Players are all supervisors of said agency and are building spaceships and equipping them with different segments (entertainment venues for guests on days spent in space), developing new technologies, expanding their workforce, trying to complete company goals, scheduling cruises, advertising them and selling tickets, and of course launching these for profit. Whoever does this best will become CEO of the company! 🎩
This theme is integrated really nicely into the game. Every action has something to do with planning or executing these launches and they have some thematic explanation too. Plus there is additional flavor thanks to Agenda cards and the types of segments you can build into your ships! 😊
The game itself is mainly about worker placement and resource management, with a fun and unique implementation. 🧐 Player interaction is quite prevalent, not just through taking tiles that someone might need, but by bumping workers, using each others’ developments and doing some actions that are beneficial for everyone. As games go on you also get more effective as you get access to techs, improve your income bonuses, or put down development tokens improving your storage and getting more easy access to actions. Multi-use cards will further increase your capabilities and let you do fun things! 😁
For now let’s leave the gameplay details at that. We will do a deep dive into the intricate details of the game very soon, but (spoiler alert!) I can already say, it is awesome! Like “I am still thinking about that game last night” awesome! 🤩 Stay tuned, and get ready for launch today afternoon! 🚀🥳
