Our newest acquisition

Another one of our newly acquired games is Dune Imperium. We have been hearing a ton about this game for some time now, and were also surprised to see it climbed up all the way to the 15th overall spot on BoardGameGeek. 😮
As primarily 2 player gamers I had some fears how good it could be. I saw two red flags:
🚩 1. A mandatory dummy player
🚩 2. Majority scoring in the combat phase
However I am happy to say we were pleasantly surprised and found the game exceptional. 👍 The turns of the dummy player literally take around 5 seconds and give some tightness which otherwise would be potentially missing. Also the majority scoring part feels good because you sacrifice potentially valuable worker actions to add troops to the conflict and can also influence it later with intrigue cards or sword icons on your revealed cards – add the bot’s troops to the mix and it’s even more spicy. 🌶
The game is a fun mix of worker placement and deck building where you are racing for victory points by gaining influence with different factions and winning conflicts on the battlefield. ⚔️
I am already curious what the expansion adds to the game. 🤩
