Our first villainous experience

We have tried π Villainous π before, but even though we watched a lot of Disney growing up, I still saw many characters in the games that I didn't know. πΆ I think it adds a lot if you understand the theme - it's kind of essential. That's why I was delighted when I heard a Star Wars version was coming. π₯°
Villainous has a brilliant twist - it takes the cartoons and stories that you know and love, but puts the bad guys in the spotlight. π€― You take on the role of a villain and you have to fight and vanquish the do-gooders in an effort to achieve your nefarious plans.
Each villain comes with 2 decks. You will draw your hand cards from one that help you achieve your objective if you play them cleverly. π΅οΈ The second deck has the fate cards - the good guys of your story. Your opponent will put cards from this one to your board that try to stop you from reaching your goal. π
You achieve these goals by moving each turn into one of your four spots where you do the indicated actions like drawing, playing and moving cards, gathering credits or vanquishing heroes. While the actions are mostly the same between players, everyone has their own completely unique decks. π
The best thing is how every villain has their own assymetric goal. π For example as Moff Gideon I had to capture Grogu (the little Yoda from the Mandalorian series) and experiment 𧫠on him. Or Darth Vader has to lure Luke to the Throne Room with Palpatine and convince him to join the Dark Side πΏ. These are all easier said than done of course. π
This box set comes with 5 villains. Alongside the two I mentioned you get Captain Grievous from the Prequels, Kylo Ren from the new Trilogy and Asajj Ventress from the Clone Wars animated series. π
I am curious about the longevity of the game though, as I never played that much of Villainous - can you get to know Villains and their goals after some games, so that it gets samey? Or does the card play remain interesting to keep games feeling different? π€
I hope it's the latter. π€
