October recap

OMG, another month went by 😮 Time flies… as you might have seen in our stories we moved into our new home about a week ago and that means much less gaming and a lot more work than we would have hoped for… Luckily #SPIEL23 comes to the rescue, as it hugely boosts our stats for October in spite of moving .😅 Looking back, we have played a lot of games, which makes selecting 8 to highlight difficult!

👑 The Old King’s Crown

This is one that definitely has to be on the list! A superb bluffing area-control-y card game of intrigue and mind games, with breathtaking art! It is deservedly on the hotness list of BGG, and doing well on Kickstarter too. 🥰

✈️ Sky Team

Perhaps our best purchase of SPIEL23! This game really delivers what I wanted. A no-communication co-op dice placement game, which we will cover in greater detail in the future. 😊

🗺️ Maps of Misterra

We just wrote about this one, and it left a really good impression on us. A tile-laying game with unique twists to set itself apart from others. A definite recommendation! 😁

🕌 Sankoré: Pride of Mansa Musa

My most anticipated demo of SPIEL23. The game was very good, though we have some fears, especially for the 2p aspect. It still left us waiting for the release later this year. 🙃

⛵ Sail

Another no-communication co-op with trick-taking. I was hoping for this game to be great, and it is! One of the few we tried at the hotel during SPIEL, and we can’t wait to play more of it. 💪

🦊 The Fox Experiment

Another game we played at the hotel. It is basically a roll and write game, but also so much more. It has a big box and myriads of components. We will be covering it in the future!

🦸Heroes for Sale

A 2p duel card game in a tiny box, but it packs a big punch! Each card played can be bid for by the opponent, so you have to consider twice what you play - and managing your money is quintessential.

🏛️Civolution

Last but not least the 4h demo game of the newest Stefan Feld game. It was a bit slow with our 4p game at SPIEL, but it made us want to play it more in the future with a more polished version. It definitely showed promise! 👍
