Numbers & colors

Number Chain πŸ”— is a game about chaining numbers. πŸ˜„ Makes sense right? Games like this are easy to overlook because there are quite a few that look similar - colorful cards with only numbers on them. One thing they have in common is that they are usually fun, and that goes for Number Chain too. Simple and fun. πŸ˜‰

It's a card shedding game, meaning your goal is to get rid of your cards as fast as possible. Players start out with a hand of cards and on their turn they can either play some of them, draw a new one, or do a reset drawing all 3 cards from the central board and flipping the β€œcondition-tile”. Let me explain what this tile does. πŸ‘‡

You can only play cards that follow the rule of the condition tile. 🧐

πŸ“€ One side says your played cards have to start with the number that is the second number on the top of the discard pile - e.g. playing a 33 and a 37, when the discard shows an 83.

πŸ“₯ The second side says you have to play self-contained chains, so the first number of every card will be the last number of the previous - so like a 12 followed by a 24 followed by a 45.

Additionally if you have a straight of 3 consecutive numbers you can play them as a free action. So sometimes skipping playing cards to draw new ones can be beneficial to complete such sets.

Basically that's the game. πŸ™ƒ Play cards, get cards, get rid of them all. Simple but with a nice flow. The game goes from 2-4 players, but I think 3 or 4 will be better, as we did find that games can stagnate a bit in 2p when neither of us can play anything for a few turns. It does feel good when you pull some lengthier chains though.

There is a simplistic modern graphic design, but I appreciate how the numbers are color coded so you can more quickly parse the information.
