November recap

November recap

It’s December. ❄️ We know because it has been snowing non-stop over here for the past few days. 😂 It means: time for a monthly recap!

Half of our November was vacation actually, and we did bring a bunch of games, but we ended up playing a lot less than planned.
In the other half we were still busy with things to do in the new house. We are slowly making progress, and can’t wait to have 100% free time for board gaming! 💪

Imagine our surprise when we checked our stats and it showed 20 different games! That’s not so bad at all :)

Here are some of the best games of our month:

🧪 Jekyll & Hyde vs Scotland Yard
This is our favorite this month by far. A no-communication co-op trick-taking game that’s exciting and fun to play. You have agency in spite of the trick-taking. And it looks gorgeous. 🤩

🧊 Nunatak Temple of Ice
We like this one a lot! Kane Klenko always seems to be a safe bet for us. 😁 I love the 3D building aspect with the ice cubes, and the layered decisions with the card drafting.

🔎 ArcheOlogic
We haven’t covered this one yet, but it’s fun! A logical deduction game, in which you are trying to unearth a buried city with the help of a cardboard gizmo - and logic. 🧠

🚀 Evacuation
OK, so this game has been a bit bittersweet. Our expectations were way too high, and the game shows some cons, but I can’t deny what a treat it was to unbox, set up and learn to play this game.

☕ Coffee Rush
A less known game of contract-fulfilment, with a fun twist of resource gathering on a shared grid. The flurry of orders coming in and the limited space for resources make this a real blast.

❇️ Celtae
We just played this at the end of November, and the unique combination of game systems immediately made Celtae stand out. We’ll be covering this soon too. 🙂

🃏 TEN
A card game that has quite a lot going on: set-collection, auction and push-your-luck! Even though 2p isn’t the best here we enjoy playing, and we are convinced it must be awesome with more players.

🛰️ Ceres
You don’t hear much about this game in the torrent of SPIEL releases, but the unique dual worker placement of player tokens and neutral meeples make this a worthwhile euro!
