More about Micro Midgard
Have you looked at our previous Micro Midgard post and thought to yourself: “Wow that sounds neat, but I wish it wasn’t so tiny”? 🤔 Then let us show you the Ragnarok Edition of the game - you could call it Macro Midgard I guess. 😃 It’s basically the same game but everything is supersized! (Definitely swipe for the comparison image!)
Double and triple layer boards, bigger chunky meeples and tokens, and a bit more variability. The campaign also offers the Yggdrasil mini-expansion with additional blessing tracks and meeples included. And there seems to be some kind of secret box included which was not yet revealed. 😮
⚙️Otherwise you get the same punchy gameplay; moving shared meeples on a shared rondel, gathering resources, claiming relics and activating blessing tracks. Everything is centered around the 5 scoring phases and timing these. You can influence when they happen, and which of 2 conditions are assessed, and your turns always impact your opponent’s options, making this a highly tactical duel game. 😉
I haven’t mentioned the solo mode yet, which is contained in both versions. You can face off against Loki, an automa, who is controlled by a deck of scheme cards, and a special board with extra tokens to track his focus and bonuses.
While I believe the tiny form factor is definitely a big strength of Micro Midgard, I do think the Ragnarok Edition is more convenient to play (unless you are traveling of course). It is nice to have options of which version to pick, perfect for a crowdfunding campaign.
