Mind your own business!

Mind your own business!

We heard a ton of good things about Mindbug, which inevitably led to us buying it at SPIEL22. 😄 It’s the perfect game if you are looking for that dose of trading card game, but don’t want to spend time with deck construction, or spend money on random booster packs.
There are now 2 new expansions ‘Beyond Evolution’ and ‘Beyond Eternity’ coming for it, currently on Kickstarter until 22nd April! They are standalone expansions, so whether you are wanting to join in or to expand your card pool, now is the time! 💪

The cool thing in Mindbug is that you just have to shuffle the deck of cards, give 10 to each player, and you are ready to play. 🙃 Cards have different strength values and keyword abilities, but any constellation of 10 cards could lead to victory. Additionally both players have two mindbug cards - this is the unique aspect of the game, which helps further balance the random starting decks. 👍

Whenever your opponent plays a card, you can just take control of it with one of your mindbugs. 🧠 You have to be careful, as you can only do this twice. This makes cardplay very tactical - you don’t want to “gift” your biggest guys to your opponent. The game structure is quite simple, which facilitates quick matches: 🧐 You either play a card, or use one of your cards in play to attack - which your opponent either blocks with one their creatures or they take a damage. If you get your opponent to 0 life, you win! The card variety and keywords do the heavy lifting, making matches interesting.

In the new expansions there are additional keywords coming!
🧬 Action: you can use your creature’s ability as your turn
🧬 Evolve: some creatures can evolve into stronger versions
🧬 Boost: you can strengthen your cards
🧬 In Discard Pile: certain cards in your discard pile can have an effect on cards in play

The art of this game is really cool too. 🤩 Every creature in the game is a chimera made of two different things - and if you look at the pictures there are some quite crazy and funny combinations. 😅 My favorites are the Turtle Toaster and the Swiss Army Bug. But there are so many good ones!
