Logical deduction... with lasers?

šŸ’ŽOrapa Mine is a small box logical deduction game from the huge lineup of @playte_games . Itā€™s a game about finding the locations of tangram-shaped gems inside a 10x8 square grid by shooting in rays from the side and assessing where and how they leave. Itā€™s a simple idea that works great! šŸ˜

The game goes from 2-5 players, but if you play with more than two, then one player has to create a puzzle and act as clue giver while other players ask questions. With 2 players both create a puzzle and ask questions in turn, racing to find the solution faster - šŸ‘‰Iā€™d say this is the true player count of Orapa Mine.

A turn is simple: šŸ§ you state a line from where you want to fire in a ray, then you get an answer where the ray exits and what color it has. Alternatively you could ask how many times the ray bounced off of gems, instead of the color. Rays start out transparent, but upon hitting a gem they take the color of it. If they bounce multiple times, the colors mix, giving you valuable but often confusing information.

The game doesnā€™t come with a notepad šŸ—’ļø, but you definitely need to make notes. Sometimes you get an obvious answer, like the ray leaving on their other side colorless without hitting anything; or bouncing 90 degrees and coming out blue - then you know you hit the angle of the blue gem in a specific intersection. But more often you get information snippets that arenā€™t enough on their own. Thanks to the unique tangram shapes, finding a single angle can help you pinpoint the exact location of some gems!

A normal game is played with 5 gems, but there is a more advanced mode too where you can add in up to 2 black gems. These are special because a ray that hits them wonā€™t bounce off, instead it dissipates. As these make the game much harder, now you can also ask about specific cells to find out if there is a part of a gem there!

šŸ’¬We love deduction games and this is a fun small box addition to our collection. Not the most complex or engaging one, but itā€™s quick, simple, thinky, and does not need an app! šŸ˜Š
