Let's waltz!

I love Grand Austria Hotel, and the best thing for beloved games is to enhance them with expansions! 🤩 Let’s Waltz! does exactly that - enhances gameplay with 5 different modules and a dedicated solo mode. Let’s see what the modules offer! 😉

1️⃣ New Cards
Okay so one of the modules just adds some more cards and tiles to beef up your pool, so I guess it’s not really a module at all. I always appreciate “more of the same” type expansions though. 👍

2️⃣ Start Player
The basic game has a snake turn order. With this module you can swap to an ordinary turn order and get a new action to claim the first player token. We aren’t fans of this mechanic in 2p games, so we didn’t use it. I can imagine it could be nice for 4p games though.

3️⃣ Unique Hotels
Now we are getting to the interesting stuff! With this, each player gets a special hotel at setup with asymmetric player powers and different starting conditions. All of these feel unique and powerful. Our favorite is the hotel which gives you a bonus depending on the sum of the values of your 2 chosen dice each round. 🥰

4️⃣ Celebrities
This is a super cool one. A red, blue and yellow die replaces 3 of the normal dice. They work mostly the same, however to choose a colored die you have to pay some money - but in exchange get the celebrity tile allocated to that color. Celebrities have powerful abilities that you can only use in the current round. Celebrities keep cycling as you play and allow for cool plays.

5️⃣ Vienna Ballrooms
And last but not least we have the namesake of the game, introducing major gameplay changes.

Instead of assigning guests to rooms, you can send them to ballrooms, but it requires champagne as a new resource. Ballrooms offer an area majority-style mini game, unlocking bonuses as you place dancer tiles. With 5 ballrooms to choose from (randomly selecting 3 per game), this module offers even more replayability and a ton more possibilities for clever combos.

💬 The modules are all really cool additions. While using them immensely raised the playtime for us, we enjoyed the game that much more! I think for fans of Grand Austria Hotel, this expansion is a must-have.
