Let's talk more about that unknown planet

We have featured ๐Ÿช Planet Unkown before and I am pleased to say it is still among the very best tile-laying polyomino games! Itโ€™s so satisfying and so riddled with decisions yet still so quick. It is simply amazing. ๐Ÿ˜

This time we played 4p, and there is quite a big difference to 2p - in 2p games you always rotate the tile depots 60 degrees so you know what shape you will receive next turn. In 4p games the person with the station commander token can rotate it any way they want and the others take tiles from the depots facing them. So itโ€™s quite unpredictable what you'll get.

I really love how you donโ€™t just fill up your board with tiles as best as you can to get full rows and columns to score at the end, but also get to go up tracks ๐Ÿ”ผ on your player board depending on what types of terrain you placed. This increases the amount of decisions and strategy.

Also some tiles have meteorite โ˜„๏ธ symbols - you place meteors on these that will break rows or columns. You have to do you best to move your little rover pieces and collect them before the end of the game. You can also collect the life pods you placed at setup for bonus points.

You can also add private objective cards to work towards and public objectives that you share with your neighbors, fighting โš”๏ธ for majority. Or use event cards that are drawn each round to shake up things.

The biggest strength of the game is how many asymmetrical planets and corporations (player boards) it has. These all have their own rules and nuances, and this really multiplies the replayability of the game.

I guess the biggest downside of the game is the availability, as it was a Kickstarter title not too widely distributed. ๐Ÿ˜ Given how good it is, I really hope some additional print runs will come in the future. This is an absolutely awesome game that deserves to be played by many. ๐Ÿ˜
