Let's solve some crime
❓ What have you been up to this weekend?
The weekend so far hasn’t been that much about gaming - instead we have been painting to finish one of our bigger painting projects that has been stuck in limbo for a while.
However we take great pleasure in playing detective games on lazier days! 😊
We have played a lot of these in the past, the newest one we have tried now is Crime Cases: Kunstfehler (thanks to Crime Cases Games who kindly sent us a review copy).
This is the type of detective game without any gimmicky mechanics like a time track or similar. Just plainly and simply (how we love it) you get a bunch of documents that you have to chew through, connect events together and deduce what has happened, so you can answer some questions to solve the case. These are always so much fun: you start out not knowing who is who or what has happened, but with each piece of information you read through, you slowly puzzle together the big picture. The things you get could be flyers, police reports, credit card statements… So many cool things that make you feel like a detective! 🕵️
There are also several multimedia tools that elevate the experience further. As you investigate you can find telephone numbers, websites, e-mail addresses or social media accounts that you have to check to proceed in your investigation. These further aid the detective-immersion! 🙃
Crime Cases: Kunstfehler is a fun detective game that we can recommend to everyone who likes these kinds of games! This time you’ll be solving a case with not one but 2 suspicious deaths at an art gala, and you’ll have to study evidence collected by the police so far. I wouldn’t want to spoil anything, but I can say that the story is quite creative with some surprises up its sleeve. The corresponding web app offers multiple difficulty levels, meaning you’ll get more hints if you are playing with a less experienced group. The only thing off for me was the voice acting of the police commissioner who kept contacting us. He sounded a bit like he was in a parody and not a “real” murder case. 🤔 But I guess it’s a question of personal preference, and nothing that would lessen the fun of the investigation. :)
A copy of the game was kindly provided by the publisher. Read our content policy.
