Let the adventure Unfold before your eyes

There are spades of escape room games on the market, but we aren’t complaining. We really cherish this genre! 😊 (Real-life escape rooms as well by the way 🔐). The many different games try to put their own twist on the formula, which is also the case with today’s games from the Unfold ✉️ series! The whole game is basically just an envelope, which you will keep unfolding as you progress through the story. Just a small folded rectangular piece of paper. 😮
We played two games of this collection so far:
In 👮Unfold: Dark Story you are locked into the cell of a police station, and you have to make a daring escape before the guards return.
In 🗡️Unfold: Victim of the Pyramid your beloved is chosen to be the sacrifice in an Aztec ritual, so you risk your life to complete the challenges inside the temple and rescue them.
Every time you pass a chapter you can unfold the game to the next page where you are presented with a story snippet and a new puzzle (and possibly some additional little components glued on). If you think you’ve solved a puzzle you can check on the inside of the cover: 🧐 There are little perforated tabs that you can open to see if you are correct. The tabs themselves show symbols or numbers, multiple options for each chapter. There are also tabs for hints if you need them.
💬If you like escape games then you know what to expect. The individual puzzles can be a hit or miss sometimes as with all of these games usually. You have to be in a good state of mind and approach some riddles from different points of view. I would say the riddles in these 2 games in particular are mostly on the easier side if you are experienced puzzle-solver, except a few ones where our logic just failed, and we got stuck and had to “ask” for hints.
I do like the novelty of the folding aspect, but it does mean that it’s best to play with at most 2 people, as otherwise you won’t see a lot. All in all it did not top our favorites, but it was a nice hour we spent with each. 😊 And one more bonus: we didn’t have to destroy anything!
