Lead your own anime studio

In 🖌️ Jisogi: Anime Studio Tycoon from @esper.bgs , you become the manager of an anime publishing company. It’s not all roses in this industry - thematically, a big studio just went under, and now several smaller ones popped up to absorb the talent. 😔 In the wake of this, you start out with a dwindling crew of 4 “Dead Inside” employees, but you can later promote them and hire new ones, to lead your studio into success! 💪

Jisogi is a worker placement game with a pretty simple flow. 👉You have action discs on your staff cards: whenever you send a disc to the action board, you are practically sending that staff member there. The different roles excel at different actions. There aren’t that many spots to go to, so it gets crowded very quickly, and you have to spend additional money to visit spots with discs already there. Money that you also need to pay the salaries of your staff later on. Going into debt is a part of the game. 😱

You want to produce Anime each round. For that you need to collect Scripts 📝 (Settings, Plots and Twists), and also Art 🎨. There are always 3 Trends visible, which show genres that the public wants to watch. The better you match your Scripts to these, the more successful the final product will be. Each year you only release one Anime so you want to make it as good as possible to earn money and reputation with it. ☝️ There are also special conditions you can reach for extra reputation.

Another important thing is promoting and hiring staff. “Dead inside” staff don’t trigger action bonuses, and the better “Genki” staff also all have either favorite genres or other abilities.

The rules are fairly simple, but there are enough smaller decisions to keep you engaged. The biggest thing is set collection and synergies - you want to match icons and staff abilities to bring the most out of your company. 

The real strength of Jisogi is definitely the theme (especially if you ever used to enjoy Manga or Anime). The art is splendid and the Trend cards have amazing illustrations and foiling. Just let the pictures speak for themselves! 🤩 I also love the thematic touch of how the combined Script tiles describe your anime.
