Just like a trading card game, but without all the hassle

Do you like trading card games? If you like the idea of them, but aren’t a fan of collecting cards and constructing decks, you should take a look at Hero: Tales of the Tomes! 😉 This game offers to scratch exactly that TCG itch, and allows you to have exciting card duels against one or more opponents, but without all the hassle. So what makes it special?

☝️ First of all, there is a central deck of cards - to start playing you just shuffle this deck and every player will be drawing from it. No time spent with deck construction! This of course means the spread of cards you get is greater, so you have to make do with what you get.

👉 Players can choose from 5 unique, asymmetric characters! 🤩 As rounds go by, you keep leveling up - on odd levels your stats will increase, on even levels you get new abilities. Every character has multiple abilities to choose from, so each game you can try to specialize to synergize better with your cards or counter your specific opponent better. The abilities are all super impactful, and the last levels really ramp the game up.

On your turn you can cast spells by paying mana, and play companion or item cards using your current level as currency. 🧐 As the game goes by you can afford more and stronger cards. Companions have many of the typical attributes like an attack and a health value, but also other keywords or effects. There is great variety here too, and many unique cards.

💬This game is a hidden gem and I'm genuinely blown away by how well it works, especially considering the draw randomness! When playing with just 2p, you only get a glimpse of the deck, which means the possibilities are huge. We went ahead and tested all characters, and all of them are super exciting. 😊 We experienced epic comebacks, even in the most seemingly hopeless situations!

Just like any game with a multitude of cards, there are some interactions that aren't explicitly covered in the rulebook, but the FAQ on the homepage comes to the rescue, clearing up most questions. 👍

So far, we've only played with 2p, but I can imagine how cool and intense a free-for-all battle royale with multiple players would be! 🤩
