Hand crafting dreams for wealthy clients
❓What if we could connect a sleeping brain to a computer and experience dreams that were hand-crafted? 🤔Would you try it?
This is a working industry in the game 🧠Neodreams, and you play as a CEO of a company, crafting and selling dreams to customers! It’s a tableau-building game for 2-4 players - basically a race to add 10 cards, with cards being the different dreams your company offers.
The core concept might be familiar to you. You start out humbly with an empty tableau, but as you play and add cards to it, you get new abilities and become more versatile. By the end it will be easier to gather resources and play cards.
There are some unique twists though to this formula to make it fresh! 🙃
First of all there are 3 types of cards you can play. 👉The difference between these is how their ability gets triggered. Cards also have slots you can fill up with Object tokens, which then upgrades their ability to a more powerful one.
🟡Yellow cards are strong one-time effects that activate if you put a Customer on them.
🟣Pink cards are all activated if you do a Broadcast action.
🟢Green cards always activate when their specific condition is met.
Then the main feature is the worker placement. 🧐 You send out your so-called Oneironauts to gather resources and objects, find customers for special dreams and trigger broadcast actions. Worker placement itself works as you’d expect, but getting them back is the interesting part. ☝️If you can’t or don’t want to place a worker, you can do a Cycle action instead, pushing the Cycle marker forward and returning home every worker from that column, even the ones of your opponents. This also gives out bonus actions and makes positioning on the worker board a more layered decision.
🎨I really love the art of the game. I am not sure whether AI was involved in its making, but every card has unique illustrations which are really evocative, and have this surreal feel to them. Perfectly fitting for the theme. 🤩 So if you are looking for a beautiful lightweight game of tableau-building, Neodreams might be one for you! 😉
