Gen Con recap - Day 3

Gen Con recap - Day 3

For Gen Con’s 3rd day (Saturday) we were thinking about skipping the early crowds and just playing something at the hotel instead. In the end we couldn’t resist jumping into the fray 😄 and checking out some more booths before all the stock was sold out. We continued our exploration 🕵‍♂️ going through aisles looking for interesting games or any unique trinkets and baubles. In the end our haul grew by quite a few titles, though many of them are small box games. 😁

As for gaming during the day, we didn’t manage that much. We played 🧙‍♀️ Curses & Covens, a bluffing deduction one-vs-many card game. It was fun, even if it’s not our genre. We tried out 🐉 Tatsumi, an upcoming tactical abstract game with dragons. We played 🐈‍⬛ Pocket Cats too, which is a tile flipping duel game that we bought right afterwards.

After the exhibit hall closed we met up with some US-based content creators in Open Gaming. 🥳 Shoutouts to xy . It was awesome to see faces in person and get to know everyone! After chatting we did a quick game of 🦀 Seaside, our new favorite quick-and-easy game, then got in a play of 🌲Forest Shuffle.

From Open Gaming we headed over to another creator meet-up event. As it was held in the room of CGE there were a bunch of their games ready to play! Due to tiredness we decided to skip the heavier euros, and went for simple games instead. The huge version of Pictomania seemed like the perfect crazy start, especially because we just moderated and didn’t have to play (it’s an awesome game, but some of the prompts seem impossible 😅). Then the huge version of Fish’n’Katz was the ideal continuation. Slapping cards with giant cat paws is just hilarious.

At the very end of the day we got a sneak peek of the prototype of ⚡️Citizens of the Spark thanks to Jess from Thunderworks. Games . It's an upcoming engine builder game with spades of player interaction (oh and it has anthropomorphic animals!). Then we played a few rounds of 💀 Emerald Skulls, a crazy push-your-luck betting game from the Roll Player universe.

What an amazing day, and what a welcoming happy bunch of people!
