Games on the radar - UKGE edition II

After yesterday’s post I just feel like continuing with more interesting titles that will be showcased at UKGE 2024 . It is sometimes hard to keep up with the onslaught of new games, but I also think it is a pleasant problem to have. 😅

⛵ Looot

Looot looks to be one of those simple yet strategic games that are amazing gateways, and I hope I am right. The art style and colors are also just fabulous. 🤩 Players will be placing Viking meeples on the gameboard to claim tiles (with tile types having their own nuances), which they then place on their personal player board, trying to complete objectives by surrounding them with the correct tiles. Forward planning required!

⚔️ Ironwood

Mindclash releases are always games we look forward to, and Ironwood seems superb! A highly asymmetric duel game, in which even the components of the opposing factions are different - Metal vs Wood. 😮 Gameplay is through tactical card play, and cards are used both to do actions and resolve combat. The decks, playstyles and objectives are also distinct!. Can’t wait for this one! 😁

🎻 Luthier

Although we kind of missed out on Distilled, I’ve heard lots of positive things about it. Luthier looks more interesting both from a theme standpoint, and I guess we can’t help but be drawn to games with Vincent Dutrait’s artwork. 😍 It should be a pretty complex game about crafting musical instruments, and with lots of ways to specalize, it is said to have multiple ways to victory - which is always a big plus in my book! 👍

🧑‍🚀 Shackleton Base

With Fabio Lopiano’s and Nestore Magnone’s name on the cover, the anticipation is high for this one too. A heavier euro about building a base on the surface of the Moon. 🌕 I am very interested in giving this game a go to find out more details, but the replayability sounds splendid: each game 3 corporations are chosen as sponsors, which modify aspects of the game, like what resources are available or how you can score points. 😉
