Games on the radar - Gen Con Edition
It’s Monday! 🙀 That means this is the week of GenCon, and in 2 days we can grab our badges and soon we can roam the halls of the Indianapolis Convention Center! 🥳 To bide our time, why not discuss some more upcoming games - this batch of games will only be demos as far as I know, but nonetheless a perfect chance to check them out. 😉
🛸 Star Trek: Captain's Chair
While I am not a huge Star Trek fan, I did see a lot of episodes and I always enjoy sci-fi films and games. The main reason I am excited for this game is the designer duo Nigel Buckle and David Turczi, who brought us Imperium and Voidfall. So I expect great things from this!
🌀 Mistborn Deck-building Game
To be honest I know nothing about this one except an important detail: it is designed by John D. Clair, who has a lot of good games under his belt, like Dead Reckoning or Mystic Vale. However coincidentally I did just finish reading the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, so the theme speaks to me! 😉 This is a fantasy book series, which was immensely fun to read! 🥰
🐿 Everdell Duo
Being avid fans of Everdell, news of a new Everdell game will always excite me. Since the release of Everdell Farshore I am more wary however, and I am hoping the game is tweaked in interesting and meaningful ways, so it’s not just a money-grab. Personally I think that original Everdell is amazing at 2p, so I don’t feel like a 2p version is necessary, but if it works well I will be there to give it a go! More cute critters and constructions are always welcome. 😊
🛡 Tales of Arthurian Knights
A bit of story time for this one: 🧐 Tales of Arabian Nights was the first Out Of Print game we FOMOed for, and were very happy when we managed to track down a copy for a reasonable price. Ultimately the game is not very good (PS. by Reni: don't listen to him, the game is cool!!), but it is very unique. Basically a sandbox for you to adventure around and encounter random people and random stories and build a story for your character. 😮 So I hope that Tales of Arthurian Knights will be an improved and more fleshed out version of this, making it all more worthwhile and awesome.
