Day 1 recap

Day 1 was a lot of fun - though some of it was spent waiting in lines and carrying games. Here are a few highlights ☺️
🌕 Ceres
We tried this upcoming sci-fi euro worker placement game from @artipia_games . It was with some unique twists.
On your turn you can either use neutral workers from a common pool to activate one of your facility cards of the same color; or you can use one of your tokens to do an action on the game board.
There is also a lot of resource management as you gather and spend five different kinds of resources and credits.
A cool mechanic is the asteroid 🌌 belt: 3 circles on the corner of the board which get rotated every round so asteroids you can mine keep moving.
When you get new facility cards you can either tuck it under an existing card to upgrade it or place it as a new card.

🎌 Tokaido Duo
I was interested in this one - partly because Tokaido is not really playable with 2 and also because we love 2 player games.
In the game both of you have 3 meeples: a pilgrim 📿, an artist 🖌️ and a merchant 🧮. Each round 3 dice 🎲 are rolled that correspond to the 3 meeples - you draft the dice one at a time to move your characters around. Every character has their own rules/path for movement.
The artist makes and gifts paintings, the merchant collects wares that he can then sell and the pilgrim visits temples and gardens. The game ends when someone maxes out one of their characters, then you add together the points from the 3 characters.
It's pretty simple, but thinky enough. I think this is a great one, especially with its price tag.

🌎 Earth
We actually backed this on Kickstarter but were glad to be able to try it.
In Earth you play cards into your 4x4 tableau grid to build your engine and get the most points. Each turn a player chooses one of 4 actions and everyone else copies it (copying is of course less effective).
Cards with the same color as the action will also activate giving you bigger and bigger combos as the game goes on. You have some asymmetric start cards that might influence your strategy. Cards will also have clever interactions with each other.
I love the little tree trunk markers you can stack on plants. 🤩
