Card drafting and tableau-buildings in its purest form
🤖AI: 100% Human is a card-drafting and tableau-building game in its purest form. It’s all about choosing the right cards, playing them in the right position and at the right time. There are tons of scoring conditions clashing with each other and it is up to you to make the best of it! 😉
You start your empty 3x5 tableau with just your AI card in the middle, which shows an end-game scoring condition. Then you will do a basic closed card draft, choosing a card and passing your hand of cards to your neighbor over multiple turns. An added twist is your reserve: the card you choose doesn't have to be the one you add to your tableau, as the reserve acts as a kind of buffer zone! 🧐 As every card you place scores based on what is already on your tableau, you might want to prepare some combos or build your strategy around a specific card that you save in your reserve. 👌
After drafting the first 7 cards there is an interim scoring, then you go again with a new hand of cards. By the end of the second round your 3x5 tableau is complete. There are also special goal cards in play that influence scoring, so make sure to keep those in mind too! Space also restricts you in a big way as the 3x5 shape is set and you'll have less options after each card.
Cards could score for rows, columns, adjacent cards or the complete tableau depending on their condition. Iconography for this is pretty clear. The aspects referenced in a scoring condition could be card color, card value or their spatial arrangement, but in countless different and creative ways. 🙃
💬We really enjoyed our plays! The only gripe we had with the game is the aesthetics of the cards - though this is subjective. Cards mostly just show a number and scoring conditions, so the ‘competing AIs’ theme doesn't shine through. I wish they went with some artwork of the crew of a spaceship or something along that line. Otherwise the gameplay is solid, just like similar puzzle games: you have many scoring conditions that you want to complete, but doing one could ruin another possibility, so you are left juggling many different things and constantly evaluating what is better. 🤯 Fun and engaging.🤩
