Building the mythical tower

Bable is a small box card game inspired by the mythical story of the Tower of Babel. You probably know this one: 👉In the past people started building a gigantic tower to reach the skies. Seeing this, God realized that humanity had become too powerful due to their ability to communicate, so he made everyone speak different languages, eventually stopping the construction completely.
Basically this story serves as the elevator pitch for the game - players have to cooperatively build a tower, but over time they understand each other less and less. A pretty creative and fun idea! 😁
What you need to do is super simple: Get resource cards to match building recipes, then use those recipe cards into the shared tower. Complete the pyramid-shaped tower in time and you win. However, you can’t just do actions as you please. 🧐 On your turn you can only command other players to do something by saying one of the game’s made-up words.
There are 4 commands: 🗨️ one to draw 2 resource cards, one to give 3 cards to other players, one to complete a building card, and one to show 2 cards to the other players. Of course if you give a command to someone that they don’t understand (they don’t have a matching word card) they won’t do anything. 😄
As the game starts, your words are mostly the same, but after each turn you draw an idea card from the deck (which also acts as a timer for the game) - if you get a new word for a command card, you have to discard the old one facedown. So no one knows which command changes and to what. 🤭 You see each other’s resources, but the building cards are hidden until an action reveals them - so build commands can be easily wasted too.
💭I think the idea of the game is brilliant, but I am not sure just getting resources and paying resources for cards is enough to carry the game (although even this simple task is made difficult by the need of speaking gibberish). These are just first impressions though for #firstimpressionsfriday🎲 . I do think with the right group at a full 4-5 player count Bable is sure to bring some laughs if you find the concept in itself hilarious, but I definitely can’t recommend it with only 2 players. 🙁
