Birds with malicious intent

Do you see all these cozy birds and cute animals hanging out in the park? What if I told you that this is actually a game of cold calculations, nefarious planning and cunning tactics? These birds are out for blood! 😅
🐦 Perch is a clever game of area-control for 2-5 players, but not just any old area-control game! It is really fun even with just 2-players, and that is because you don’t just want to have the most presence everywhere - and you don’t just place your own pieces! 😮
The play-area is made up of a number of square tiles depending on the player count. Some of these are more simple, some have ongoing effects for whoever controls it, and some let players use the special abilities of animals in play. The best part is that in each game you will have a random layout with different tiles and animals. 👍
Gameplay is simple: 🧐 Each round you get 2 birds 🐦 of your color, and draw 2 random birds 🕊️ from the bag - those could be yours too, or belong to an opponent. The genius of the game is that you can be happy either way, even if you don’t get to place that many of your own birds. 👉Some tiles might give more points to the 2nd or 3rd place, or you could just “waste” opponent birds by placing them somewhere where they don’t make a difference. 😉
After placing all birds in the round you score every tile majority, then go to the next round, playing for 5 full rounds. There are even more things going on like nests that help with the majority, birdhouses that can “close” a stack of birds and zap ⚡ tokens that let you remove pesky rival birds. Every game has 3 unique animals in play that you can use once a round if you control their tile, and these can quickly shake up the board state.
💬 Perch is a pretty simple game with fast & breezy turns, but it has enough layers to make it strategic in spite of this simplicity, so every decision matters! 🙃 This should be a blast at every player count.
The components of course have to be mentioned too. 🤩 You have clear acrylic standees for the animals, and the birds are chunky plastic pieces with square-pegs so you can connect your bird-stacks vertically. It just looks so cool.
