Berlin Brettspiel Cin recap!
The game library at Berlin Brettspiel Con was quite big, which meant we got to try out a lot of games that we've been meaning to for a while now! We also tried some games on the show floor, so in no specific order, here are some short impressions. ๐
โ๏ธ Quacks Duel
We have sold our copy of The Quacks of Quedlinburg, but playing the Duel version was fun. It is still a bit too random for our taste, but if you play Quacks with 2p this is in my opinion a much much better version. There are more incentives to risk draws and the way potion brewing is done is more interesting. I also like how players aren't playing simultaneously.
๐ Sea Dragons
This super cool looking game has interested us since last SPIEL. Ultimately it didn't really convince us, at least not for 2p. It is basically a polyomino puzzle, playing cards to place your dragon pieces in specific shapes, taking ships for contract fulfilment and fighting for majorities in the 4 sea regions.
๐ฟ World Wonders
Unfortunately we were pretty underwhelmed by this game as I was afraid. The core mechanics are good, but it all felt somewhat unengaging. Itโs also sad how you can only get one wonder each turn, and how people snatch up the cards from each other after working for it. (Which can hurt, as each wonder has distinct prerequesities). The production quality is so nice though.
๐ฆ Forest Shuffle
The only game we rented a second time because we just wanted to play it again! ๐ It seems the hype is warranted. An amazing card drafting game, where cards are multi-use - you use them to pay for other cards, and most of them depict 2 animals, of which you can only play one. Decisions upon decisions to make, so it's super fun.
