Bees & bouquets

Do you fancy a relaxed stroll in the garden, collecting flowers and arranging them into beautiful bouquets? 🙂 Then you might be interested in 💐Floriferous (aka. Blumengarten) by Pencil First Games , a simple, quick and cozy card drafting game for 1-4 players! ☺️

The game is about set collection. Players will collect cards: 🃏 mainly flower cards in 1 of 5 colors, types, and possibly featuring 1 of 5 insect species. These 3 features are important to look out for when picking a card. You may also pick Desire cards that score for certain features, Arrangement cards that require 3 distinct features in your tableau, or Sculptures that have a majority scoring aspect. Additionally you should pay attention to the available Bounty cards (chosen during setup), which are basically public objectives - the sooner you complete these, the more points you get. 😉

Each round you set up the garden, which is made up of 5 columns and a few rows depending on player count. Each turn players will move to the next column and pick a card from there - whoever is on top gets to go first, but there are incentives to go for cards that are lower: some cards in the upper rows can be facedown, and bottom cards can have stones on them that are worth additional points. Thus player order will change from turn to turn. Going first is of course very useful as you get to pick from more cards.

💭 Floriferous is a delightful gateway or filler game that is easy to pick up, quick to play and provides a fun time. While it is not the most revolutionary game, in its weight and genre, I think it is a worthy addition to any collection. 🙃
