Battle royale brawl between robots

🤖 Robot Quest Arena is an all out battle royale brawl between robots that are powered by deck-building! You take control of 1 of 4 unique mechs with a single goal: dish out more damage to your opponents than they do to you to win. 🥊 Good positioning and tactical prowess is a must tough!
The core of Robot Quest Arena is deck-building, like you might know from Star Realms for example. You start out with a simple deck of 10 cards, but as the game goes on you’ll buy new cards to improve your deck. Gameplay is fairly straightforward: on your turn you play all 5 of your cards, then draw back to 5 again for the next turn. The most basic cards give you Energy 🔋 which is basically the currency in the game. In addition, Energy can be converted into movement. I really like this flexibility, because it makes basic money cards stay relevant longer. There is a wide array of effects on other cards of the game you can acquire from the shop: different kinds of melee attacks, ranged attacks, pull or push effects to manipulate the position of opponents, healing and various movement effects. Plenty to go around! 😁
The arena itself has some tricks up its sleeve too. Before starting you can set up special tiles to make a layout. 👉Walls to block movement and sight, or other special tiles you might want to visit or avoid. The middle 3x3 area is significant. Whoever stands here at the beginning of their turn gets a victory point - a good way to discourage hiding in the corners. The other main way to get victory points is by simply dealing damage to others: health you remove from them is added as victory points for you, and finishing off others is worth an extra point.
I guess this goes without saying but the pre-painted mechs are beautiful and super chunky. 🤩For me personally it’s important to have something “extra” in a deck-building game to make it fun in the long run, and the arena gives exactly that! 😉 This additional spatial element, as you have to move around the 7x7 square grid to get in and out of the range of effects, or push opponents into hazards makes the game very much replayable. 💥
