August recap
August is over? Oh no, I am not ready for early sunsets, darkness and snow. 🙈
Well anyway, let’s recap our favorites of last month!
🪨 Cairn by @matagot.friends is an abstract 2-player dueling game, where the board and actions keep changing as you play. Every step has to be considered, so you don’t set your opponent up for victory.
We heard lots of good things about this game, and our expectations were easily met! Great little game, fast and beautiful!
🌌 Voidfall by @mindclash_games is on the other end of the spectrum: A huge, sprawling and long game of epic space strategy with asymmetric factions, deterministic battles and an engaging action selection mechanic. It is our newest and greatest game that we really want to explore in detail!
🍄 Mycelia by @splitstonegames is an upcoming KS game that has graced our table a couple of time. It’s dynamic and tactical, and we really enjoyed the gameplay and illustrations. Can’t wait to see the final version.
🏵️ Revive by @aportagames is a really fun comboey euro from SPIEL22. Replaying it reminded us how good it is, as we anticipate the newest upcoming games from this year.
📃 Black Sonata by @sideroomgames has a fascinating concept, as it is a solo-only hidden-movement deduction game. This uniqueness quickly won us over as we grasped the rules after a few games.
🍁 Leaf by @weirdcitygames is a beautiful and cozy leaf-laying game. You place down leaves, connecting tips to trigger actions. A quick and lightweight game that’s very enjoyable.
🛡️ Siege of Valeria by @_dailymagicgames_ is a solo tower-defense game. I love these kinds of games, and this quickly got my seal of approval. You roll dice that you allocate to deal damage and fight off foes - in turn you get their cards which all have special abilities that help you in the defense of the stronghold.
🐾 Beast @studiomidhall is a game we also started playing recently, but haven’t posted about it yet. It’s a hidden movement game in a dark fantasy world, where hunters are hunting a beast that prowls and picks off livestock and settlers. Stay tuned for more!
❓How was your August?
