A small box dungeon crawler

⚔️ Mini Rogue is a small box dungeon crawler game for 1-2 players. It was originally a print-to-play game but got an official release later on. The guys from @nutspublishing did a good job demoing the game so we got it right after.

🧐 It's basically a resource management game with a lot of dice 🎲 rolling to resolve tests, combat and random outcomes. You manage your health, food, gold, xp, potions and armor - trying to survive until you reach the last level of the dungeon and defeat the final boss. 🏆

🪜 Each level of a dungeon is a grid of 3x3 cards that you deal out randomly. You start at the top-left and the bottom-right is either the stairs to go lower or a boss fight. After you finish resolving a room you can flip the adjacent cards and decide where to go (keep in mind you can only go down or right ☝️).

🎲 Some rooms will need a successful test, which is a 5 or 6 rolled on a D6. In certain rooms you just roll to see what you get. Some involve fighting which is basically just rolling your dice to see how much damage you deal and whether the enemy managed to hit you. You can modify the dice a bit, but it's mostly up for luck to decide. You do get more dice as you get XP and level up, so your chances go up as the difficulty rises. Some enemies can even poison and curse you, adding one if the corresponding die to your pool!

So these are the main decisions: Which way do you go? What do you buy? When do you use your potions and class ability? The expansion adds a deck of cards for some choose-your-adventure feeling, where you get a story card and you can decide which outcome it should have. It is a nice touch, we enjoyed it!

💬 It's pretty entertaining, especially for a small game😊, however we did find that the game takes quite long to play as you go through 12 levels. Then it might be more worthwhile to just grab a bigger game in the end. The 2p co-op mode also seems a bit tacked on and probably makes the game easier. So solo is probably the way to go, then the game should be shorter and more challenging👍. I'll have to test this theory next.
