A roll&write legacy game

My City Roll & Write perfectly distills the essence of the tile-laying legacy game My City to the pen and paper format. β You will be doing very similar things - building houses, cleverly drawing in polyomino shapes to your city map π - and also have a legacy-like progression system as you go further in your 12 game campaign, with new mechanics introduced every time.
π The game is split into 4 chapters, each chapter consisting of 3 games. So basically the big block of sheets you get for the game is split into 12 different types.
π Each turn 3 dice π² are rolled: the two blue ones determine the polyomino shape you have to draw in and the third white die determines the building type. The rules are quite simple at first: try to cover as many empty spaces you can because you get minus points for each that remain. Also there are trees π² and stones πͺ¨ on your map in certain spaces: you should cover stones or else they give you minus points - you can cover trees, but should avoid doing so because those get you plus points. As you go on, new rules get added each game so it gets more interesting.
π Compared to the original it is a lot faster - you donβt have to search and setup a bunch of tiles or shuffle cards to flip up. You just start rolling and drawing. Of course however you lose the tactility of placing cardboard polyomino tiles, and itβs harder to plan for the future because it is completely random what shapes come next.
π I am quite unhappy about the dice though. π These are basically the only game components, and there are only 3 of them - yet they are very low quality, light and with stickered-on faces.
π Still, if you never played My City or dislike the concept of legacy type games because you use up stickers and might not be able to play again - or if you just love polyomino games in general - My City Roll & Write might be up your alley. π
