A quick intro to the Twisted Realms
Happy Monday! How was your weekend? We had an awesome time full of gaming (and some DIY projects that feel like a never-ending story, so let’s skip those for now 😅). The highlight was definitely the prototype of the 3 upcoming games from the Twisted Realms series by InsideUp Games.
This new set of games takes players into the fantasy world of Twisted Realms, a universe brimming with familiar elements of D&D. Each game employs different game mechanics, but they also have some things in common, like short playtime and an accessible ruleset.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at them!
🤼 Tug of Roar
It’s time to settle the feud between the Elkyr 🦌 and Lycarans 🐺 once and for all. Tug of Roar is a competitive 2-player game where you play as leaders of these 2 clans in a tug-of-war. But it’s not just about brute strength - strategy and cunning play a pivotal role. Players will recruit their soldiers and try to outmaneuver their opponent, using unique abilities to claim victory.
🎲 Crits & Tricks
A trick-taking game with sets of polyhedral dice! 😮 Designed for 1-4 players, this game spices up traditional trick-taking mechanics by substituting card values with dice values. Not enough? Win conditions change depending on the class (color) of the card! Winning every trick isn’t necessarily the goal, as you have a bunch of quests to fulfill to earn the most money - a really unique combination, our favorite of the series! 🥰
💰 Thieves of Eldris
Gather your party for this 1-6 player competitive heist! In Thieves of Eldris, you’ll navigate the notorious Skullduggery Square, outsmarting rival thieves. Your goal is to get close to your targets and liberate them from their valuable purses without revealing your identity. It’s all about hidden movement, bluffing and sometimes clever guessing!
We had a blast exploring these prototypes, and I can already tell that the Twisted Realms series will be a hit for many. Keep an eye out for their Kickstarter launch tomorrow, and get ready for tactical gameplay! 😉
