A game of ghosts and confusion

🏚️Quiet House is a no-communication co-operative game of deduction. Players play as ghosts 👻 who have moved into an old mansion, where they are moving statues around to better suit their liking. Perfect for the season, isn't it? 🎃 Of course they cannot clearly say how they would like to have them arranged, so most they can do is push things around and see the silent reactions of their fellow apparitions.

To set up the game you put the board into the box-bottom and arrange the statues randomly. ☝️The most important restriction is that 2 statues can never be in the same row or column! Then you turn the box so each player faces a corner (you can play with 2-4), and randomly slot in cards that show the conditions you want statues to be in - which statue should be closest to that wall, and its relation to another statue. Each player can only see some of these.

Gameplay is simple: you either say that the puzzle is solved from your point of view - in this case you hold up your little “Paddle”, and then everyone else does so too, either holding up the ‘happy’ or the ‘annoyed’ side. If everyone is happy, that means every condition is fulfilled and you win! 🏆 These paddles are a great idea and add a lot to the no-communication funny factor. 😄 Otherwise you can take a normal turn and move one statue. ⌛ Time cards dictate how much time you have left, and show a specific statue that you cannot move.

The 5 statues have different movement rules.

🐁The mouse can only move from holes to holes.

🏰The bastion can move any spaces orthogonally in one direction, just like the rook in chess.

🕯️The candelabra can move 3 spaces in any directions

🐒The monkey can switch places with another statue

🖼The mirror copies the movement ability of the statue on the time card

Don’t forget the restriction that only 1 statue can be in a row or column! This makes the main puzzle harder: to get statues into their correct positions, sometimes you have to move one that is already correct, just so another one has the space to move. There are also more advanced rules for statues if the basic ones are too easy for you.

A fun concept for a no-communication co-op. 😁
