3D upgrades for Tzolk'in

3D upgrades for Tzolk'in

For this issue of Sunday Showcase we wanted to highlight the first game we ever pimped up: Tzolk'in! A few years ago I really wanted to buy a resin 3D-printer. There are a ton of things to be printed, but I think what I wanted to print most were the pyramids that go on top of the wheels in Tzolk’in - which really is an unneeded purely aesthetic thing. 😅 Of course the workers were also upgraded from simple cylinders to little people. 😊 Plus all the player markers. And lastly the wheels! They were just screaming to be painted - from buttery beige to ancient mayan gears. It was one of our first forays into painting so we might have to re-do them now that we are more experienced.

Tzolk’in is really close to my heart because it is the very first heavy euro we bought for our collection. After trying it out in a board game cafe, we immediately had to order it. 😅 It’s a brilliant and very unique game with rotating gears ⚙️. They are not rondels but timers - the longer your workers spend time on them, the more far away they go, so when you activate them you get bigger rewards. You kind of need to rewire your brain to play well - you have to send out workers earlier than you actually need what they will get you.
But Tzolk’in is definitely a game that we will have to cover in detail in the future! I think we never wrote about it before. 🙀

The wood, stone and gold resources are still the original colored cubes though. I guess we still have some upgrading to do. 😂

❓ What is a game that you completely blinged out, or really want to?
